Not Just a White Christmas

In case you didn’t receive the memo recently, the outmoded fashion rule that one cannot wear white after Labor Day is officially defunct. Okay, so maybe not officially, but for all you fashionistas out there, I urge you to join in the rebellion against a rule that discriminates against monochromatic colors of the fabric kingdom.

After doing a bit of research, it seems that we’re not even sure who started this silly rule in the first place. Winter white has been acceptable after Labor Day for quite some time, so why not abolish this exclusion and welcome in all shades of white, not just cream and ivory.

To help you on your march, er journey, into a revolutionary fall and winter wardrobe, I’m going to make some selections for you that I personally recommend. Using the fall trends as a guide and some general fashion sense, hopefully I’ll pick out something you like.

Let’s start off with a pair of shoes, since this is primarily a shoe blog after all. It was harder than I would have imagined to find a pair of white (and still fashionable) shoes. Apparently vegan designers still think it’s faux pas to wear white after Labor Day, but hopefully they’ll catch on after seeing fashion forward divas strutting in white as they create the new generation of fashion codes. The shoe I picked is a white pump with a three inch heel and is available on vegetarianshoesandbags.com. It is generically called “Elegant Vegan Pump” and will go with both jeans and more dressy items like mini-skirts and dresses. The heel is a little thin, but if you’re used to donning stilettos, these will give you no problem at all.

To go with the white pumps you just got, there’s a lovely white saddle bag, also available on vegetarianshoesandbags.com. Again, it was difficult to find a white handbag that didn’t look like a Goodwill reject. Perhaps, until designers catch on, buying out of season is the best option. The size is pretty ideal, as it is large enough to accommodate most items you would carry, but not so big that you’ll hit the person next to you as pass by.

Finally, as a random item to top the blog off, I found a pair of yoga pants on planetshoes.com that are by Earth (I’m sure many of you are familiar with their shoes, which I have mentioned in previous blogs). The great thing is that they are currently steeply reduced (though only available in size small). The baggy style of these pants can of course be used for yoga or lounging, but would also provide a nice contrast to a form-fitting top of another solid color of your choice.

That’s it for now. Sorry for the lapse in blogs lately, but I’m back on track now and will be posting more this week to catch up. Until then, get out there and illuminate the fashion world with your new trend-setting wardrobe.
