Shockingly, it’s that time again – the start of the busiest shopping season of the year. I can’t believe it’s yet again time to prepare for Christmas shopping. Some of you may not play into the hype of the holiday season, or participate in the various celebratory days at all, but for those of us who do, the shopping can be a stressful task.
Luckily for vegans, or perhaps unluckily depending on how you look at it, vegan products aren’t going to be at the top of the list for most consumers, so you can start you shopping now and not wait around for the Black Friday sales and wait in line for five hours at a corporate store you probably don’t want to support in the first place.
To help you out, I’m going to give a few gift suggestiosn for both vegan women and men. Of course, it is often hard to shop for a specific individual based on the suggestions of a stranger, but perhaps my selections can at the least give you a jumping point based on the sites I provide.
I’ll start off with shoes. I know I personally find that I like to have shoes that go with multiple outfits. This eliminates the need to buy another pair of shoes each time a new outfit is purchased. I’m quite a fan of ballerina flats and J-41 offers the Palm Vegan, available at planetshoes.com in both black/grey and tan/black. These are pretty casual shoes, but could be worn with some tights and a mini-skirt for a bit of funky accessorizing. For the men out there, I recommend the Men’s Vegan Casual Shoe from vegetarianbagsandshoes.com. The bland name certainly doesn’t fit the shoe, which provides a detailed casual style that could easily pass for a dressy work shoe.
Next, we have additional accessories, namely jackets and scarves. As always, there are many more options for women. I’ll start out with a coat of choice. Alternative Outfitters offers a BB Dakota Black Plush Faux Wool buttoned jacket that would especially be great for areas where the winter is more harsh. You can pair this with the Black Knit Vegan Cap/Scarf Combo, also available from Alternative Outfitters. This hat and scarf, like the coat, are a nice substitute for the same type of items usually made with wool. After a bit of searching, I wasn’t able to find anything for men in the way of winter outerwear. I’m sure a more exhaustive search would would turn up results, but this shows me that vegan companies need to step up and make more products for men – one step at a time though, I suppose.
So stay out of the never-ending lines this shopping season, make purchases online and support vegan companies!
A Saucy, Soulful Vegan
