Natalie Portman launches vegan shoe line

The beautiful and talented Natalie Portman has recentlNatalie Portman for Shoe4Africa.orgy launched her Vegan Shoes line. While we would love to sell her shoes, they are only available at Te Casan.com or at their retail store in New York. Natalie says that as a vegan it has been challenging to find designer shoes made of alternative materials. Prices range from US$225 for a simple ballet flat (Pia) to $395 for a satin pump with chiffon pompom (Plath). Each shoe is a limited edition with only 100 pairs in each size and color available.

Lest you think this is yet another meaningless celebrity diversion, let me mention that Natalie is donating her share of the proceeds from the sale of these shoes to various animal welfare campaigns. Natalie has a long and admirable history of working for social causes. She has been a spokesperson for shoe4africa.org, an organization that distributes footwear to Africans. They estimate that 92% of Kenyan children have hookworm, which enters the body from the ground through exposed bare feet. The shoes donated through their site will go a long way to help these children.
